Project Description

Underwood Park is a major open space and recreational park located in Rochedale with several sporting clubs located within the park including the Underwood Park Netball Association, Rochedale Rovers Football Club, Rochedale Tigers Rugby League, Rochedale South Cricket Club, Logan City BMX Academy, Rochedale Mixed Softball Club, Springwood Softball Club, Guides Queensland (Underwood), RATS mountain bike club, and it will soon be home to the Rochedale-Springwood Meals on Wheels.

In addition to the sporting uses, there are a number of other recreational uses and facilities including a skate park, lagoons, recreational parklands, walking trails, playground facilities and a dog park. The purpose of the project is to replace existing aged infrastructure with modern facilities that are efficient to build and maintain.

The development was jointly funded by the Queensland Government, Logan City Council and Underwood Park Netball.

Project Benefit

The project is a joint initiative between Logan City Council and the State Government seeking to provide long term net benefits through the provision of state-of-the-art sport and recreation infrastructure. Direct local economic benefits include the activities associated with the construction, maintenance and operation of the new community sport infrastructure. Positive social and health outcomes will also occur through participation in sporting and recreation-based activities. Community sports infrastructure is also a key driver and enabler of a range of other qualitative benefits which include social inclusion and community.
