The works encompass two buildings housing general offices, existing labs and separate library and archives building. These were upgraded in a staged approach to provide modern offices with larger laboratory space and public viewing area and also to resolve the ongoing noise issues causing from having the offices adjacent to the labs.  

The fundamental project benefits the project provide is increased functionality within a modern open and agile office environment. Laboratories were upgraded to facilitate support in researching, prototyping, cleaning and storing artefacts prior and post exhibitions.
