Project Description

Brisbane Women’s Correctional Centre (BWCC), located at Wacol, accommodates up to 258 prisoners across two accommodation areas. It also acts as the primary reception, assessment and placement centre for female prisoners in southern Queensland.  

Project works included: 

  • New prisoner canteen & bulk goods store
  • Installation of new 25-person temporary office building
  • Reconfiguration of existing accommodation to provide new laundry, interview rooms & offices
  • Expansion of building to provide expanded staff canteen & bin store
  • Relocation of prisoner goods stores

Project Benefit

The project provided enhancements to both staff and prisoner facilities, increasing the facilities capabilities to deliver correctional services. The project team were able to deliver the project 2 months ahead of schedule as a direct result of the project teams collaborative approach to the construction delivery and the excellent working relationship forged with the correctional centre staff.
