The fire water infrastructure consists of existing dual fire pumps and dual 50kl concrete fire water storage tanks. The existing concrete tanks were approximately 30 years old and have developed major structural defects.   

The existing concrete tanks were replaced with new steel panel tanks which will comply with current applicable Codes, Regulations and Standards. The location of the fire water storage tanks remained unchanged.   

The fundamental project benefits to the Wacol Correctional Centre was to provide new tanks to the area, removing the issue of subsidence of the existing concrete tanks and addressing leaks to the system.
